Pairs well with

    Alegreya Sans

Modern captions for a 17th-century roman. Alegreya Sans is a humanist sans with a calligraphic rhythm, so interface text reads as present-day without the hard geometry that would fight the Fell texture.

BPOZZ Design Note

IM Fell English is Igino Marini's digitisation of one of the Fell Types, the collection of punches and matrices that Bishop John Fell bequeathed to the University of Oxford in 1686. The font file includes historical forms and discretionary ligatures; both are off by default in browsers and can be switched on in CSS.
