Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information BPOZZ ("BPOZZ," "we," "us") collects, how it's used, and the choices available to you. By using this site, you agree to the practices described here.

Information we collect

We collect two kinds of information. First, information you provide directly — for example, your name, email address, and message when you use the contact form. Second, information collected automatically as you browse, such as approximate location derived from IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, and referring site, gathered through Google Analytics as described below.

If you create an account or sign in, we also collect your email address. If you sign in with Google, Google shares your name, email address, and profile picture with us. See Accounts and sign-in below. If you save items to your account, we also keep a list of what you save; see Saved items.

We use Cookiebot (by Usercentrics) as our consent-management provider. When you first visit, it may ask which categories of cookies you allow, and it stores your choice in a cookie so it doesn't have to ask on every page. Cookies that aren't strictly necessary are used according to the choices you make there. You can review or change your choices at any time through the Cookie settings link in the footer of every page.

When you sign in, we set strictly necessary cookies that keep you signed in: a session cookie that lasts about an hour and a cookie that renews it, which expires 30 days after your last visit. While you are signing in, we also set a short-lived cookie that protects the sign-in process (up to 10 minutes for Google, up to 1 hour for an email link). These cookies cannot be read by scripts on the page and are not used for analytics or advertising. Signing out removes the session cookies.

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the site, for example which guides are read. Depending on your consent choices, Google Analytics may set cookies and collect usage and device information, such as pages viewed, referring site, browser and device type, and approximate location derived from your IP address. Google processes this information under its own terms; see How Google uses information from sites that use its services.

BPOZZ does not currently display advertising. We may use Google AdSense to serve ads in the future. If we do, third-party vendors, including Google, will use cookies to serve ads based on a visitor's prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to visitors based on their visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet. Advertising cookies would only be used according to your consent choices.

  • You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings.
  • You can opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting the Digital Advertising Alliance's consumer opt-out page at aboutads.info.

Some features remember your choices using your browser's local storage. Local storage is not a cookie: it stays on your device, is not sent to our servers with your requests, and is not used for analytics or advertising. It holds:

  • fonts saved on the Fonts pages before they could be saved to an account (a list of font identifiers), until you add them to your account;
  • the palettes you like on the Color Palettes page (a list of palette identifiers);
  • your progress through the Learning Roadmap (the steps you have marked);
  • whether you have answered the offer on your Account page to add those fonts and palette likes to your account (a single marker, and nothing else).

You can remove this data at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser settings.

  • Hosting (Netlify). The site is hosted and delivered by Netlify, which also runs the server functions that handle sign-in and saved items. As with any website host, Netlify's servers receive the technical information your browser sends with each request, such as your IP address, browser details and the address of the page requested, in order to deliver the site to you.
  • Contact form (Formspree). Messages sent through the contact form — your name, email address, subject, topic and message — are submitted through Formspree, a third-party form-processing service, which delivers them to us.
  • Palette likes (Firebase). The Color Palettes page uses Google's Firebase Realtime Database to keep an anonymous like count for each palette. When you like or unlike a palette, only that palette's identifier and the change to its count are sent; no name, email address or account information is sent with it. The Firebase library is loaded from Google's servers when the page opens and may keep a small technical record in your browser's storage.
  • Web font (Google Fonts). The site's typeface, DM Sans, is loaded from Google Fonts. To display it, your browser requests the font files from Google's servers (fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com), which means Google receives your IP address and browser details as part of that request. See the Google Fonts privacy FAQ. The fonts offered for download in our font library are served from BPOZZ, not from Google Fonts.

How we use information

We use collected information to respond to inquiries submitted through the contact form, to understand which guides are useful so we can prioritize future writing, to count palette likes, and to maintain site security. If we introduce advertising in the future, we will also use it to serve ads, including personalized ads only where your consent choices allow it. If you have an account, we use your account information only to sign you in, keep you signed in and keep the items you save to your account.

You can sign in with your Google account or with a one-time sign-in link sent to your email address. BPOZZ does not use passwords. Accounts are managed by our authentication provider, Supabase, which stores your email address, your sign-in method, an account identifier and, for Google sign-in, the name and profile picture Google provides. Sign-in emails are delivered by our email provider, Resend. We send you email only when you ask for a sign-in link, and never for marketing.

When you are signed in, you can save colors, palettes, fonts and guides to your account. For each item you save, we store only what kind of item it is (for example, a palette), its identifier on this site and when you saved it, linked to your account. Saved items are stored with Supabase, which also manages accounts, and are used only to show you what you have saved; they are not used for analytics or advertising. You can remove any saved item at any time on your Account page.

Before accounts, fonts you saved and palettes you liked were kept only in your browser (see Storage in your browser). If your browser still holds any, your Account page may offer to add them to your account. Nothing is sent unless you choose to add them: fonts are selected by default, and palette likes only if you select them. Fonts you add are removed from your browser's list; your palette likes stay in your browser as they are, and palette like counts are not changed.

Third-party links

Guides may link to third-party tools, articles, or resources. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of external sites, and linking to a resource is not an endorsement of its privacy practices.

Children's privacy

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will remove it.

Your choices and rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information we hold about you, submitted for example through our contact form. To make such a request, use the contact form and describe your request; we will respond within a reasonable time. You can also ask us there to delete your account; deleting it removes your account, the sign-in information stored with it and the items saved to it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date at the top of this page.
